The free tools below are supposed to make RED workflows easier for those who use Windows as their editing/post processing platform.
A shell extension for Windows Explorer that can handle R3D files (Redcode™ RAW video clips).
It shows thumbnail views of the clips, pop-up tooltips with vital clip information
and metadata, plus it provides a property sheet page that allows you to
quickly review your footage.
A plugin for VirtualDub, the free and open source video processing application
for Windows, which lets you open R3D clips and convert them to AVI or image
sequences. It also allows you to extract the audio tracks or embed them in
your output AVI.
A source plugin for AviSynth, the open source audio/video scripting platform
for Windows, which lets you load and process R3D clips in any application that
supports AviSynth scripts. Decodes both video and audio tracks, and gives you
access to most of the Redcode™ RAW image processing settings.
Configurable depth of field charts for some
Canon & JVC video cameras I frequently use, plus film formats including Super 16mm, 35mm and the
RED ONE™ Digital Cinema Camera. The charts include DoF and hyperfocal data
for various lenses and subject height estimates at specific distances.
A simple AviSynth plugin to compose left / right eye views of a scene into a stereoscopic 3D
anaglyph image, with options for different anaglyph color mapping methods.
The pieces of software listed herein were conceived, planned and put to code by Gábor Kertai, a professional editor, camera assistant and used-to-be software engineer.
